2. Elsevier publishing connect seminar

The Elsevier Publishing Connect Seminar will take place on Monday, 23rd June from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Two topics will be presented:

  1. How to get published
  2. How to review.

How to get published

Knowing the best way of structuring your paper when writing it, and selecting the most appropriate journal to send it to, really helps in getting your paper accepted. Also, understanding how Editors and Publishers think and what they expect, and knowing how the peer review process works, is invaluable insight into the publishing process. After attending this presentation participants will have a clear idea of the steps needed to be taken before starting to write a paper. Authors are also made aware of what aspects of their papers Editors, Reviewers and Publishers look at critically.

How to review

This presentation focuses on the key areas for a reviewer. From the general impression of the work and inclusion of an abstract, to its results and conclusion, this presentation informs you on what it takes to be a good reviewer. As a reviewer, it’s important to use a systematic approach when reviewing an article. Discover why this is the case, and how the quality and presentation of a piece of work can play its part in the whole reviewing process.

Conclusions

These insights into the publishing and peer-review process will enable the participants to be more confident in the world of science publishing, and will help them get their papers published more easily, and help them to progress their career.

Speakers: Dr Emma Granqvist, Publisher for Plant Sciences, Elsevier, Amsterdam, The Netherlands and Prof Mario De Tullio, Editor-in-Chief of Plant Physiology and Biochemistry, University of Bari, Italy.
